Empowering Families to Extend Learning Beyond the Classroom

At ICS, we recognize that meaningful progress for students is most effective when learning extends across environments—especially between school and home. To strengthen this essential home-school connection and support skill generalization, ICS offers a comprehensive Parent/Caregiver Support and Training/Coaching service. Designed for families seeking additional guidance, this service equips caregivers with the tools and strategies they need to foster their child’s development in communication, behavior, daily living, and community engagement.

All services are delivered by highly qualified professionals holding Master’s degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Psychology, Special Education, or related fields. Our instructors bring both the academic expertise and practical experience needed to support families with a wide range of needs.

In-Home Parent Training

To ensure families receive individualized support, our parent trainers provide direct, in-home coaching. This model allows for the development of socially valid, personalized goals in a natural environment. Services include:

  • Collaborative goal-setting based on caregiver priorities and student needs

  • Observation and assessment of routines, behaviors, and communication patterns

  • Tailored intervention planning to improve skills in communication, daily living, and community functioning

  • Live modeling of strategies, prompting techniques, and reinforcement systems

  • Guidance on data collection and progress monitoring

This hands-on approach ensures that interventions are practical, sustainable, and aligned with what matters most to families.

Caregiver Skill Development

Parent trainers provide extensive coaching and skill-building opportunities for caregivers. The focus is not only on “what to do,” but also why it works—empowering caregivers with a deeper understanding of behavioral principles and learning strategies. Areas of focus include:

  • Managing challenging behaviors with proactive and positive approaches

  • Teaching and reinforcing independent living skills

  • Promoting effective communication and social interaction

  • Embedding learning opportunities into natural routines

By fostering caregiver confidence and competence, we help ensure that gains made in school carry over to home and community settings.

Group Parent Training Lectures

In addition to individualized support, ICS also offers group parent training workshops designed to provide families with knowledge, peer support, and shared resources. These sessions are ideal for school districts seeking to provide community-wide support or enhance their family engagement initiatives.

Lecture topics may include:

  • Introduction to ABA and how it applies in everyday parenting

  • Promoting independence through structured teaching at home

  • Understanding behavior and implementing simple behavior intervention plans

  • Building routines that support executive functioning and emotional regulation

These workshops are delivered by seasoned professionals and are adaptable for in-person or virtual formats, with Q&A opportunities and take-home materials provided.

Instructor Expertise

Our Parent Trainers are held to rigorous standards, including:

  • Master’s degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related fields

  • Experience working with children and adolescents with diverse learning profiles, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and developmental delays

  • Certification in ABA practices (e.g., BCBA, LBA) and/or state teaching credentials
